About Doren
I’ve been working in the field of healing all my life.
Throughout my 20’s I intensively studied meditation, mysticism and Tai Chi, gaining more perspective on how habitual stress patterns affect body and mind. During that time I was introduced to the ideas behind Classical Five Element Acupuncture, and immediately they rang true.
When I saw the difference this medicine made in my friends and myself, I knew I had found my calling. I continue to receive acupuncture and bodywork because I feel the support and enhancement they bring to my life!
I attended a 4-year, master’s level program at the Institute of Taoist Education and Acupuncture school in Colorado and graduated in 2004. I went on to teach and supervise interns at that school, and I now teach at the Won Institute of Graduate Studies in Pennsylvania. I love sharing the ideas and inspiration behind this type of practice.
During acupuncture school I was introduced to Zero Balancing, a wonderful form of body work that integrates energy balancing with physical structure. I incorporate ZB into most acupuncture treatments, finding that the deep relaxation it brings enhances the benefits.
I’m always studying to improve my skills. In 2023 I completed my certificate in Somatic Experiencing, to be able to notice and help resolve trauma, and its aftereffects.
I add extra modalities to your session from what I’ve learned over the years according to what you might need. These could include Medical Qi Gong, Acupressure (for those afraid of needles), and other methods.
For over 20 years, I’ve helped hundreds of clients in thousands of sessions to find resolution to their symptoms, recover a sense of balance, peace and vitality.
